Andy Hall - Radio Cumbria Interview

Last updated : 26 May 2011 By Thetashkentterror

United media officer and first team kitman Andy Hall (AH) spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Paul Newton (PN) on Friday evening ahead of Carlisle's League One match at home to Yeovil, Hall first talking about what is going on at Brunton Park on the day  :

AH

It is a packed itinerary, we have got things actually starting from around about 12.20pm. We have got Peter Murphy, he is going to pop along and meet Vernon Kaye would you believe, the battle of the hairstyles let's put it that way tomorrow afternoon at 12.20. That will be a live interview on Radio One, Peter is going to be there with the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and I think they are going to talk about his exploits this season and about where Carlisle United have been and where they want to go.

PN

This tie-up with Radio One as well is getting a profile for the club at the moment nationally isn't it?

AH

Oh, it is fantastic, it has coincided with the Big Weekend and everybody knows what is happening there next weekend with Lady Gaga and The Foo Fighters headlining the show. We have been able to piggyback on to the back of that and you have got people who are texting and phoning and talking about Carlisle United who probably never really even considered us before. So, it has been absolutely fantastic for the club and we have been more than happy to help Radio One as much as we can over the course of the last few weeks certainly where it has all been starting to build up.

PN

Yeah, and Radio One DJ Fearne Cotton is the latest celebrity Carlisle United fan to jump on board, and she has got some involvement with what is happening tomorrow as well?

AH

We are yes, we are just waiting for Fearne's piece to come through, she has sent her apologies, she did want to come along and dress up as the mascot and everything tomorrow. But, I think that Radio One have got such a packed itinerary themselves that she has had to cry off that one, which is unfortunate. But, she is going to record a message for us which we are going to be playing before the game and at half-time, so that she is sending her best wishes as Carlisle United's newest fan.

PN

OK, as well as that the brand new strip will be unveiled tomorrow as well, just talk us through what is going to be happening with that?

AH

We have, yeah, we have got ourselves a new strip, a new home and away strip for next season so it is an opportunity for us to showcase it. The lads will be wearing it during the game itself, everybody can get a look at it, we will launch it at the same time on the internet so that people can see what it is that will be coming. We think it is a good one, it is a slightly deeper darker blue than we have been used to Carlisle United-wise. But, yeah, I think people will be pleased with it, let's say that.

PN

And just confirmation that you are changing kit manufacturers this time as well?

AH

We will be yes, we have been tied in with Le Coq, it has been a fantastic deal with them for the past three years and we will be moving on to a new supplier, but all that will revealed tomorrow.

PN

OK, and supporters I guess will want to know when the strip will be available for sale?

AH

Yeah, we are looking at that right now, it has been finalised and hopefully it will be on sale after the game tomorrow, again with full details released in the morning as soon as all of the supplier issues and everything have been finalised.

PN

OK, reduced prices as well for admission tomorrow?

AH

It is, and like we were saying it is a packed itinerary. From 1.30pm to 2.30pm we have got the Heineken promotion down here at the ground where there is £1 off a pint in all of the bars so people can get down here and start to feel the build up to what is the final day of the season. The Johnstone's Paint Trophy is going to be on show, the League One Groundsman of the Year award is going to be awarded to Dave Mitchell and his team.

There are going to be a load of other awards given to players from various agencies for their Player of the Year choices and things like that. At full-time as long as everybody can manage to stay off the pitch the Johnstone's Paint Trophy will be paraded around the ground by the players so that everybody can show their appreciation, not just for what we think has been a really good season, but also for the achievements at Wembley.
