Owls striker Gary Madine spoke to the Sheffield Star and his club's official website ahead of his side's League One match against Carlisle at Brunton Park tomorrow afternoon, the former Blues frontman hoping for more from Wednesday after they stopped a losing run of three games with a 0-0 draw at Bournemouth on Tuesday evening :

"I'm hoping we've turned a corner. We looked very solid at the back against Bournemouth and that's something we haven't done recently. We also created chances ourselves, we were pleased with our performance and want more of the same against Carlisle. I think we got it right on Tuesday in terms of talking to each other on the pitch, defending set pieces and everyone wanted the ball.

"It is very, very different at Sheffield Wednesday, different expectations but it is the same league at the end of the day isn't it. We have got to get out of that league, I have done well at Carlisle scoring goals so I don't need to change anything coming here, I have just got to do the same as I have done and thankfully I have got myself a couple of goals here.

"I had some of the best times of my life up at Carlisle and some of the worst as it is, and I'm really looking forward to going back up there. It will be quite upsetting, it was upsetting when I was leaving the place. I like everyone up there, I get on with everyone well and I will be looking forward to coming back.

"As I was leaving I was saying my goodbyes, it is the first time I have ever had to do it and I had a little tear in my eye as I was leaving, but I will be happy to go back. I still keep in touch with everyone including the gaffer, Greg Abbott, he has left me a ticket to a game and I have left him one so we will still get on, everyone is still friendly, and we still keep in touch. When I was saying my goodbyes I had a tear in my eye.

"I've put all my bad memories behind me a long time ago. In the last year I've really knuckled down and I got my reward in when Wednesday came in. I had a bit of a bad record off the field. I think they saw past that and saw what I'm like on the pitch, which is very pleasing. Thankfully, I don't know if they have taken a chance but they have signed me and I have come down and I think I have done OK since I have come here.

"They have a very good side, Carlisle have a lot of good players and a lot of youthful players, a couple of the midfield players are 20 and 21 and the strikers are 21, all of who I know well, so it will be tough for us. But, I thiok we have got the best squad in the league if I am being honest. But, I think if we turn up on top of our game then we should have no problems in getting the right result."

In team news for the Owls tomorrow they will be without a quartet of players, starting off in defence where they have two right-backs out injured in Lewis Buxton (hamstring) and Jon Otsemobor (calf). Meanwhile pacey frontman Jermaine Johnson has been sidelined for five games now with an "undisclosed illness" and central midfielder Giles Coke sees out the last match of a three-game ban picked up courtesy of a red card for a poor challenge on Tranmere's Ian Goodison ten days ago.

The referee for tomorrow's match is David Coote from Winthorpe in Nottinghamshire and he will be assisted down the lines by Martin Coy from Darlington and David Storrie from Leeds. Meanwhile the fourth official is Barry Gordon from Chester-le-Street.
