Carlisle United have offered new deals to five players - but Jason Kennedy and Gary Liddle are among those the Blues have released.

Star man Jamie Devitt is among those to have been offered fresh terms at Brunton Park, while keeper Louis Gray, midfielder Mike Jones, centre-back Tom Parkes and Scot Stefan Scougall have had new contract offers tabled.

But popular duo Kennedy and Liddle have been let go, alongside defenders Anthony Gerrard and Gary Miller, as well as George Glendon after Carlisle finished their 2018/19 season in 11th place.

January signings Arthur Gnahoua and Peter Grant also depart, while big frontman Richie Bennett has been released with his loan spell at Morecambe having come to an end.

Meanwhile, loanees Mark Cullen (Blackpool), Joe Fryer (Middlesbrough), Callum O'Hare (Aston Villa), Connor Simpson (Preston), Regan Slater and Nathan Thomas (both Sheffield United) have returned to their parent clubs.

Captain Danny Grainger leaves, too, as he prepares to take over as Workington Reds' manager having retired from the professional game.

Keeper Adam Collin, Macaulay Gillesphey, Kelvin Etuhu, Hallam Hope and Liam McCarron are all contracted to Carlisle for the 2019/20 season, as are young players Jarrad Branthwaite, Josh Dixon and Keighran Kerr.

Midfielder Kennedy joined Carlisle in 2015 after a previous loan spell with the Cumbrians, but has struggled with a long-term pelvis injury in recent seasons.

Liddle, meanwhile, has been consistent for Carlisle since joining the club in 2017 from Chesterfield.

Bennett, 28, joined the Blues in a £50,000 move from Barrow under Keith Curle in summer 2017 and scored 12 goals in 73 appearances, before he linked up with Morecambe on loan in January until the end of the season.

The release of Gerrard, cousin of Rangers manager Steven, Glendon and right-back Miller brings their respective one-year stays at the club to an end.
